Frequently Asked Questions about Our Tromsø Tours

  • When is the best time to see the Northern Lights in Tromsø?

The Northern Lights are visible from late August to early April. The peak months are October to February, when the nights are longest and darkest. While sightings are never guaranteed, Tromsø is one of the best places in the world to experience the aurora.

  • How long does the Northern Lights tour last?

Our tours usually last between 4-5 hours. We leave Tromsø in the evening and drive to the best locations based on weather and aurora forecasts. We’ll stay out until we have given you the best possible chance to see the lights.

  • How big are the groups on your tours?

We keep our groups small to give you a personal and friendly experience. This allows our guides to spend time with everyone, answer questions, and adjust the tour to the group’s needs.

  • What should I bring on the tours?

We recommend warm clothing, sturdy shoes, and a sense of adventure. For winter tours, dress in layers and don’t forget gloves, hats, and thermal socks. We provide extra gear when needed.

  • Do you cancel tours if the weather is bad or if there’s no chance of seeing the Northern Lights?

Yes. Safety always comes first, and if conditions are unsafe we will cancel or reschedule the tour. In addition, if our forecasts show there is no realistic chance of seeing the Northern Lights, we may cancel the tour in advance. In both cases, you’ll be offered the choice of either a new date or a full refund. This way, you can feel completely safe booking with us.
